‘i died’ was filmed as one continuous shot at a single home. It is shown in real time like Alfred Hitchcock’s, ‘Rope’.
Shooting was completed in eighteen days. Blue screen technology, and an extensive collection of camera wipes and whip-pans, made it possible to film out of sequence over this period, while keeping the desired seamless feel. In all, there are over 300 shots which comprise one large tracking shot.
Shot on DV, the initial investment in the project was $30k. After selling the two major assets, the JVC DV700 camera and SK Steadicam, the final cost of the film was a mere $15k.
