Call For Stories(6/8/2009)
Bump To the Head Production is looking for a story to make into a feature film. If you have a story you’d like to see turn into a low budget film please submit it to story@btth.com. We’re a low budget outfit so don’t have many rules. However, please be kind and take these items into account.
- The story doesn’t have to be in screenplay format (we’ll help you re-write it if we like it). Also, if it isn’t in screenplay format it should be about 100 pages single spaced. Most any file format is supported. If we can’t read it we’ll let you know.

- Though this doesn't mean a whole lot, the story needs to be low budget. Mostly, this amounts to a small number of sets that can be filmed in a few houses, an office, or a park. Scenes with huge crowds or meteors coming from the sky aren’t impossible but they tend to be really expensive to film. There are ways to bring down cost, but we’d rather spend our time and money making the film good, and less time and money figuring out how to do it technically.
- Don’t submit the same story more than once even if you’ve improved or changed it. We’re looking for one that’s not only good, but something we can film using our resources and abilities. You may have a great story and you might be able to make it better, but let us make that decision. If we think we can make a good film of it, but there's a scene or two we don't like - we can rewite. We know this. Rejections are more of a general thing that has more to do with what we can do and what we want to do, than the story. Don't take it personally - it isn't.
- There is no pay, but we will sign contracts with everyone involved in the production. Contracts will be more about ‘time served’ than job duties or titles. If the film happens to make money we want everyone to benefit. However, financial gain isn’t the goal and it’s not realistic for films without distribution. This project is about getting your work filmed. Anything else should be considered cake.
- You (and your parter(s)) must own full rights to the story.
- Sorry, we can’t review stories. The only feedback we can provide is why we aren’t going to consider the story. Don't be upset with us... it won't help your case. On the other hand we're not going to say, "We don't like it", but we may say, "It's too expensive", "It's has too many sets", "it's not fully developed", or "it is confusing". If you don't agree - that's fine. It's just a matter of opinion.
- If you’ve submitted your story to another publisher or producer and are waiting to hear back, please don’t submit your story to Bump To The Head. We can't and won't compete.
- If any of the rules here are blatantly disregarded we will simply delete the story (eg. 200 pages single spaced, big budget action adventure, or a direct copy of an existing movie).
- Once we've decided on a story we will post that we've found what we were looking for on this page. Sorry, we're not going to post the story or script. Chances are, your story was better and could have been filmed for less, it's true. We're sorry we're stupid. We roll that way.
As with any writing, be sure to copyright your material before sending it out. Bump To The Head is not going to steal your story if we don’t like it - we weren’t going to pay the writer up-front anyway, so we gain nothing by taking ideas without asking. However, you should protect yourself and your work. You worked hard writing it - you should take the credit for it.

Seattle Band Listings
The Seattle Band Listing is the most popular feature of this website. Several years ago Marc Atwood took it upon himself to write about every band he saw. His reviews are honest and uncensored. Occasionally new bands are added to the list.
